Mark Searcy grew up farming in Hendersonville and married his high school sweetheart, Sharon. In 1981-1982 they lived in Haiti doing agricultural mission work. Shortly after returning, Mark started building. In those days, no job was refused—they focused mostly on remodeling homes in and around Western North Carolina. More men joined the crew primarily building log cabins. As Mark developed a reputation as the finest log and timber-frame home builder in the area, he was asked to build conventional frame homes as well.

In 1988–1989 Mark and Sharon again lived on the mission field. The church they attended bought some property in Honduras. It had several buildings that needed remodeling. So Mark and his family moved there to help establish Christian Mission of Central Honduras. Upon returning, Mark and Tim Whitmire resumed building. As happy clients told their friends about Searcy Custom Homes’ superior quality and commitment to 100 percent satisfaction, the company grew.

This evolution has developed a crew with skills and experience unmatched in the custom-home business. This background in restoration and log home construction enables SCH to bring a unique set of skills and versatility to each job. Mark has an exceptional ability to listen to clients and to guide them from dream to reality—just the way the customer wants. Today, SCH has grown into one of the most respected companies in the area.

Mark and Sharon`s oldest two children, John-Mark and Joanna are in college now. The younger four, Katlyn, Paul, Deborah and Joseph are still at home. The whole family has remained active in Honduras, especially since hurricane Mitch. They often guide work groups into Central Honduras.
